Landmarks
Thronateeska Heritage Center is conveniently located in Heritage Plaza, where West Roosevelt Avenue dead-ends before the Flint River. It is one of the only streets in Albany with railroad tracks running down the center of the road (the tracks in the plaza actually belonged to an old trolley system), and in Heritage Plaza you will see the last brick pavers in the city.
Departments
The administration offices are located in the Fryer Merritt house, the first building on the left as you enter Heritage Plaza. You would go here to set up a facility rental contract or meet with administrative or education staff.
The Science Museum and Wetherbee Planetarium are located in the tallest building in the plaza, to the left, just beyond the Fryer Merritt house. You will see the words "Thronateeska Heritage Center" carved along the top of the building.
The Archives and Collections Department is currently located in the old REA (Railway Express Agency) building, adjacent to the Science Museum. The main entrance is up the ramp, under the shelter on the east side of the building.
The History Museum is the building that is face-on to the road at the end of Roosevelt Avenue, and is located in the old Union Depot. The main entrance is the set of double doors on the right.
The Chautauqua Room is located to the right of the History Museum, and is conveniently located next to the Riverfront Trail.
The Transportation Museum is located behind the fence, to the left of the history museum. You can access them through the science museum or through the history museum.
