Transportation Museum - Railroad Equipment Collection and Model Railway Exhibit

Walk through Albany's historic Union Station and see some of the technology that transformed the South. Along with our steam locomotive and selection of other rail cars, Thronateeska also has an HO-scale model railway exhibit inside one of its train cars.

The Model Railroad Exhibit is a favorite of many Thronateeska visitors, especially the children. Once a railroad baggage car and mail car that made trips to New Orleans and Jacksonville, the train has been turned into a model train haven.

The model trains are set up for visitors to view as they move through small towns and forests.

Thronateeska's Railroad Equipment Collection and Model Railway Exhibit is made available through partnership with the Flint River Model Rail Road Club.

Our Mission:

Thronateeska Heritage Center inspires wonder and stimulates exploration of science and South Georgia's history by providing a dynamic learning experience through an interactive science center and museum .
